SYNOPSIS
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away lived a planet known
as Alt.fan. This safe haven for geeks of all shapes and sizes allowed
obsessive sci-fi fans to peacefully co-exist with their beloved
heroes in complete harmony. Freaky comic-book fans cavort with super
heroes in Comic Book Metropolis, Captain Kirk macks on his most
dedicated female fans in Trekkie Town, and wild Wookies roam free
in Starwarsville. Unfortunately, a squabble on Monster Island is
threatening to tear this dorktopia apart.
A band of irate nerds insist that America’s fire-breathing
Godzilla can kick the rubbery ass of the Japanese Godzilla. Desperate
to avoid civil war, the inhabitants of the peaceful planet use the
Godzilla-matic to summon both monsters and have them run amuck until
a victor emerges.
In this clever exploration of the art of nerdery, skillful Flash
animator Todd Gallina uses the epic Godzilla war to tread on other
sci-fi staples like Star Trek, X-Files, even the ill-fated Sea Quest.
In the words of the immortal Jar Jar Binks, “How rude!”
FILMSON REVIEW: A-
Written by: Pacos
Ever since Dean Devlin and Roland Emmerich gave birth to an overly
computer-generated Godzilla, an epic online war has been waged between
old-school Godzilla aficionados and devoted fans of the new and
improved mutated monster. Countless hours have been spent bickering
about which Godzilla incarnation would triumph in a fight. Some
believe that the sleek American Godzilla would prevail, while others
insist that the sturdy Japanese version would triumph with ease.
However, there’s a fanatical splinter group of enthusiasts
who believe Mechagodzilla would emerge victorious, if given the
chance. And let’s not forget that Hedrah the Smog Monster
is extremely powerful, especially when it teams up with Megalon
the giant beetle and Biollante the rose plant of titanic proportions.
I happen to agree with Flash animator Todd Gallina – WHO THE
F**K CARES?!
Even though the comic timing seems a bit off, this is still a hysterical
and inventive exploration of modern day nerdery. It's a blatant
F.U. to all sci-fi fanatics who while away the days debating frivolous
topics. This wonderful concept is executed perfectly, allowing one
angry animator to mock obsessive geeks and the heroes they worship.
